As a token of its standing support to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, Turkey has decided to increase its donation to the Foundation's Endowment Fund to 180,000 euros.

The donation has been presented on 17 March to Dr. Piotr M. A. Cywiński, President of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation and Director of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, by HE Tunç Üğdül, Ambassador of Turkey and member of the International Committee of Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation.

"Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum is a monument to the posterity to remind the future generations the unforgettable crimes of the past. Presently, the Memorial is in need of financial support due to the loss of income caused by the pandemic conditions. Therefore, Turkey calls on all parties to extend all possible contributions for the purpose of long-term preservation and restoration of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, as it is a common responsibility for all humanity," says the statement of the Turkish embassy.
